Harvest11 Week 2 UPS & DOWNS
It was an up and down week for harvest. I expect every week will have ups and downs this year. I hope we get some more ups and not all downs.
We shut down Tuesday and went to the Farm Progress Show but did not stay very long. I wish we would have stayed longer as I didn't have time to see much.
We have now finished our best fields, the early April planting. The worst field was 128 bpa and the best field was 200 bpa. The latter caught a rain in early August. We have started with one dry number in the May planting but will move to the mid April planting next week. I expect it to be around 20%.
We have been having a lot of trouble with our Shivvers drying system as we spent all Saturday afternoon in the heat working on it and it is still not working right.

Harvest11 week one
Harvest got off to a slow start because the corn was testing wet, around 30. By the end of the week we had loads testing below 20. Yields are all over the place with some better than expected but we have not being on the flooded ground or the light soil ground. I don't know how some is as good as it is with no rain the last 2 months and to much the first 3 months. We will run full speed next week and I expect to get the April planted corn mostly done as we only had 6 planting days in the month of April. I don't know if we will stop and go to the Farm Progress Show but I would like to go to a tweet up.
